The Bouyei (Tai Yoi)-Chinese-English-Thai dictionary is the fifth publication of the collaborative project between the Institute of Language and Culture for Rural Development (ILCRD), Mahidol University and the Kam-Tai Institute, Central University for Nationalities (CUN), Beijing, PR China.

The compilation of the dictionary started in 1995 and ended in 1999. The dictionary consists of the introduction part and lexical entries. The introduction part includes ethnic names and brief history, culture, and language of the Bouyei nationality. It was written by Mr. Zhou Guoyan, a native speaker of the Niuchang Bouyei which is spoken in a town formerly called Niuchang of Zhenfeng County, Guizhou Province. The name of the town is now Xingbei. The pictures on the cover were taken from Wei Ronghui, ed. (1992) and those in the introduction were taken by Somsonge Burusphat (1995) and Wang Fangli. The Bouyei lexical entries were also collected from Mr. Zhou Guoyan with their equivalent meanings in Chinese, English, and Thai. The meanings of lexical entries are based on the dictionaries of Tienchai (1992, 1995), Boonchai (1996), and So Sethaputre (1997). Samples of clauses in which the lexical entries are used are also given for practical purpose. An index is also provided for the user’s convenience.
